Duke’s World of Energy approaches its 50th year

An Oconee County tourist attraction is nearing its 50th year of operation.  Since 1969, Duke’s World of Energy on the grounds of Oconee Nuclear has offered  free, family-friendly opportunities to the public, including energy education, information programming, and family entertainment.  On November 1, the World of Energy will change operating hours, remaining open to the public 9 a.m. through 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and closing on Saturday and Sunday. For the public’s use, the picnic area and nature trail will remain open Saturday and Sunday.  Special events and  featured programming will take place on designated Saturdays through the year. The World of Energy is replacing and refurbishing  several exhibits and says although hours are changing, its commitment to energy education and the community remains strong.
