Duncan announces a 50th co-sponsor

Rep. Jeff Duncan says he has a 50th cosponsor for a resolution  to allow Congress to bring suit against the Obama administration should the President move Guantanamo Bay terrorists to the U-S mainland. That 50th co-sponsor is Duncan’s fellow Republican Rep. Michael Burgess of Texas.   Duncan issued this statement:  “This is an important marker of support for the rule of law. It is illegal under federal law to transfer Gitmo terrorists to the U.S. mainland—a law which was initially passed by a Democrat super majority in the Congress and signed into law by President Obama. Attorney General Loretta Lynch also said at a House Appropriations subcommittee hearing in February of this year, ‘that is the state of the law,’ and, ‘it’s certain that we would be prohibited from doing so,’ yet the Obama Administration continues to tease the American people through legislative signing statements and comments to the media that all options are on the table.”
