Easley man killed in moped wreck near Walhalla

An accident near Walhalla took the life last night of a 47-year old Easley man. Coroner Karl Addis said Brian Junior Sanford was operating a moped involved in a head-on collision with an SUV-type vehicle shortly before 9 o’clock at Picket Post Road and Earlestead Drive.  Lance Corporal Gary Miller of the highway patrol said the accident occurred as the driver of a 2003 Chevy SUV, 47-year old Elizabeth McCall of Walhalla, attempted to make a left turn from Picket Post Road onto Earlestead.  McCall was not hurt.  Miller said the moped carried improper headlights.  At the time, according to Addis, it was unknown where Sanford had been or his destination. Sanford was not wearing a helmet.
