Extra officers on duty during 4th of July weekend

Extra officers will be on duty to help the Oconee Sheriff’s Office ensure that the holiday weekend is safe for everyone.  “The Sheriff’s Office will have our dispatch fully staffed and ready to accept calls for service as we do every day of the year,” says Sheriff Mike Crenshaw.  “If someone needs our deputies to respond to their location to report an incident or crime, our normal and routine law enforcement operations will go on as usual.” Those extra officers will help make a visible presence and better eye on alcohol violations and make sure emergency vehicles can navigate into access points.  There will be Sheriff’s Office marine units on the lakes.  Motorists are asked to keep in mind they should be prepared for traffic safety checkpoints.
