Facelift for hopsital emergency department

Oconee Medical Center’s emergency department remains a 20-bed unit, but a lot else has changed—-for the better! A bright green ribbon was cut this morning to mark the completion of a one-year renovation project. New flooring, new counter tops, and a new-look waiting room are among the features of the $550 thousand project that took one year to complete. The hospital relied on what was termed a“significant” financial contribution made by the late Dave Werder of Chickasaw Point. Werder’s son, Greg, also contributed to the project. Jeanne Ward, OMC president/CEO, and Todd Walker, senior director of operations, say they are especially proud that the renovation never shut down the emergency department—even though nearly one-fourth of the department was undergoing face-lift at any one time. And, for that, they especially credit the emergency department staff.
