Fallen tree blocks 123 in Westminster

We’re hearing about an early morning electric power outage affecting Westminster customers.  County Disptach reports a large tree fell at 123/E. Main and Skyland Drive and that shut down the entire road.  By 5:30 this morning, the Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative had 283 members without electricity.  The breakdown by counties is as follows:

·         Anderson –          32

·         Greenville –         76

·         Oconee –             169

·         Pickens –              6

·         Spartanburg –     0

Overnight, service was restored to 531 members.  However, strong winds have continued to uproot trees that have fallen on power lines.  These incidents have resulted in a number of additional new outages on the system.  Crews are continuing to make repairs, and further progress is expected with the approach of daylight.
