Fire fighters attack the northern fornt

Fire crews continued their efforts to cut into containment lines as the Pinnacle Mountain fire moved slowly through the day yesterday.  Efforts yesterday were focused in the area of Slickum Falls Road.  At times, burnout operations caused heavy smoke.  In other sections of the fire’s perimeter, crews held existing lines, and monitored and patrolled for hot spots. To learn more about the fire fighting efforts, in excess of 100 residents from around the perimeter attended a community information meeting at the Palmetto Cove RV Park in Cleveland.  By yesterday morning, the fire size stood at 9,566 acres, containment was 50%, and so far estimated costs are $4 million.
