Fire takes a toll this afternoon in rural Oconee

Investigators are at 274 W. Halfway Branch Road between Seneca and Walhalla trying to figure out why a noon hour fire damaged a home.  There was no one home, and fire fighters faced fire coming from the doors and windows.  According to Charlie King, Oconee Fire Chief, it took 15 minutes to stop the fire. About 25 fire fighters worked for one hour to ensure all hot spots had been extinguished.
