First to use “Mobile Watch” app

Oconee Sheriff’s Office now uses an app that enables its sex offender registrar to upload and update current information on registered sex offenders in the county. At last count, 154 Oconeeans had registered as sex offenders. “Mobile Watch” was purchased last year after Deputy Kelly Winchester, the sex offender registrar, realized the technology can help keep tabs on the offenders. The cost of $500 a year is paid with funds that some offenders are required to cover. Having become the first agency to use the app, Winchester recently gave a demonstration to a meeting of the South Carolina Sheriffs Association in Columbia.
