Flu Shots for the Insured

Officials with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control say flu vaccines are on the way for those South Carolinians with medical insurance. Last month, the agency received its shipment of flu vaccinations for adults who are uninsured. Director Catherine Templeton says as soon as the department receives its shipment for adults with insurance, they will begin offering those shots as well. Templeton says the best way to prevent the flu is to get a shot every year. Templeton urges all adults with medicare, Medicaid or any other type of health insurance to visit their health car provider or a local pharmacy to get a flu shot. In Walhalla, Ken’s Thriftee Pharmacy on Main Street offers flu shots without an appointment.
