Funeral Services Planned for Seneca Couple

Funeral services have been planned for a Seneca couple who died in a house fire early Friday.  Edgar Blake Smith and his wife, Patsy Geraldine Hughes Smith, both 73, died early Friday morning in a house fire.  Oconee Coroner Karl Addis says both Mr. and Mrs. Smith died of smoke inhalation in the early morning blaze.  Coroner Addis says Mrs. Smith was discovered in the hallway just outside her bedroom.  Mr. Smith was discovered collapsed beside his bed in his bedroom.

The funeral for both Edgar Blake Smith and Pasty Geralding Hughes Smith will be Saturday October 27 at 3 pm at the Sandifer Funeral home.  The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family asks that In lieu of flowers memorials in memory of Blake and Pasty Smith be made to the Seneca Soup Kitchen, 400 E. South 6th Street, Seneca, SC 29678.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
