“Game plan” to expand bus service

A Walhalla councilman revealed a “game plan” last night to bring bus passenger service to his city and nearby Westminster beginning in 2018.  Speaking at the annual meeting and supper of Partners for Progress, David Underwood said a letter will be sent this month to the South Carolina Department of Transportation to request permission to allow Clemson Area Transit to create a new route from Seneca to Walhalla to Westminster and back to Seneca.  According to Underwood, envisioned among the Walhalla stops will be the Department of Social Services on Kenneth Street and the county administrative complex on S. Pine Street.  Underwood, a member of a county committee recommending expanded bus service, asked his audience to keep in mind other important dates in the game plan.  They include dates to apply for grant money to buy buses and operate and maintain the Seneca-Walhalla-Westminster route.
