German auto project eying Oconee

An un-identified German automotive project is considering Oconee County.  The county’s economic development recruiter predicts the company will make a decision in the next couple of months.  Richard Blackwell this morning categorized the project, code-named “Project Crystal” in a “warm” status as to Oconee’s chances to land it.  He told the board of directors of the county’s Economic Alliance that Oconee is the only county in South Carolina still in the running for the project.  Blackwell then turned to what is still considered as a “hot” project—“Project Big League/Sarah.”  Also known as the Michelin project, Blackwell said, active discussions continue.
