Good financial news for Oconee Memorial

Small, rural hospitals in states that said no to Medicaid expansion, have been disappearing from the map.  But Oconee Memorial, since its absorption by the Greenville Health System, is an exception.  Hunter Kome, president of the Oconee Medical Campus of GHS, said his hospital has been regaining market shares and, “We are the top performing campus of GHS.”  There’s also a healthy aspect to the community’s continued giving to the hospital as a way to help offset costs and provide services.  Cortni Nations, the director of the Oconee Memorial Foundation, says since the start of the foundation in 2001, the community has donated nearly $20 million which has been for services such as the OMH Hospice House and the Lila Doyle nursing and rehabilitation facility.
