Governor to visit Oconee

Governor Nikki Haley plans to be in Seneca next week for a ceremonial signing of the bill named for the deceased child of a Clemson couple. City of Seneca sources tell us that the Gignilliat Community Center has been booked for the Governor between 2 and 4 p-m Wednesday, August 7. There, she’s to draw attention to Emerson Rose’s law, named for the late two and a half month old daughter of Susan and Jason Smith. Emerson Rose was born with congenital heart defects, and the new law makes mandatory all South Carolina hospitals test newborns within 48 hours of their birth. We have an unconfirmed report that Haley, while in Oconee, will make a stop at West Union’s Itron plant.
