Grading starts for chicken houses on Doyle Street

Grading has started in a rural part of the Walhalla-Westminster area for a set of chicken houses, and the poultry operator is in search of a water supply that will serve as a backup to his well.  Although the project lies within the Walhalla water service territory, there is no interest on the part of the city to enlarge an existing two-inch line in the area.  Cost is the factor.  Scott Parris, utilities director, said the poultry house operator requires a flow of 84 gallons a minute for the protection of his birds.  It’s possible, Parris said, that the poultry operator can persuade Westminster, whose service area borders the property, to request permission to supply the property.
