Grant to buy culinary arts equipment

A charitable foundation is providing funds to Oconee’s Hamilton Career Center to buy needed equipment for the culinary arts program.  The kitchen at the career center has six blenders and six mixers, but the 82 students enrolled there must share.  But $40 thousand approved by the Pete and Sally Smith Foundation will be used to fill needs.  Last spring Jennifer Dodd, district grant writer, came across the funding opportunity and brought it to attention.  Rodney Quick is grateful.  He has been operating the culinary arts program on a budget of $4 thousand a year and has been forced to get creative.
