Heavy rains damage Greenville County and I-85

Flash flooding Saturday night damaged parts of eastern Greenville County, including I-85. Some of the more significant damage was left on I-85 southbound at mile marker 54. Water flowed thru a culvert crossing Brushy Creek near Pelham Road. According to estimates, four to five feet of water flooded the southbound lanes for a 400 to 500-foot stretch. That stretch was re-opened at 5 yesterday morning, and the South Carolina DOT reports an inspection revealed no permanent damage to the interstate.
