“I survived Walhalla Streetscape” attempt at humor

Walhalla supporters are wearing bright-colored t-shirts emblazoned by “I Survived Walhalla Streetscape.”  Mayor Danny Edwards says it’s an attempt at humor at the end of the one year project that changed downtown traffic patterns and provided a new look to the core business section of the city.  Edwards was part of the large crowd that stood on Main at S. Catherine this morning to cut the ribbon for a symbolic Streetscape opening and the start of the two-day Mayfest Art of Living festival.  The south side of Main, from Spring to Catherine, is filling up with vendor booths.  The vendors have wares to sell and the downtown’s year-round merchants are hoping to cash in on the festival also.
