Ideas to lower lake injuries and deaths

Not only is the Friends of Lake Keowee organization concerned about the quality of water in the man-made lake, there’s concern for the number of deaths and injuries resulting from accidents at two sections at the upper lake end.  One idea outlined this month by Jack Lewis, president of “FOLKS”, is the establishment of a county park at Fall Creek Land with full-time park rangers.  But less expensive is Lewis’s idea for signs warning in sections, such as Fall Creek and Jumping Off Rock, stating that there have been X number of drownings and you should think before you become the next.  According to Lewis, this kind of sign appears to be effective at the Whitewater Falls overview area.
