The folks at the Army Corps of Engineers are watching the rain fall and recording measurements across the basin. In the final days of last month, they report, a welcome relief of rain fell on the upper Savannah basin. And that brought rainfall for November nearly to average for lakes Hartwell, Russell and Thurmond. Lake Hartwell received more than three inches November 26 and 27, bringing the total for the month to 4.3 inches—two-tenths of one inch short of average. The Corps’ communications officer, Russell Wicke, says because Lake Hartwell got the most rain, the corps will, in the coming weeks, move some of its water down to Lake Thurmond to re-balance the pools.
