In the upper echelon of years served

An announcement is imminent that the long-serving Oconee County coroner, Karl Addis, will once again seek his party’s nomination to run for re-election in November.  Look for Addis, a Republican, to declare this month for his party’s June primary election.  It appears that should Oconee voters send Addis back for a new four-year term as county coroner, the Walhallan will join the upper echelon of the longest serving Oconee elected leaders dating back to at least the middle of the last century.  His number of years served will reach or approach the numbers of such public servants as Roy D. Harden, Sallie Smith, Ted Durham, and Sandra Burgess Orr. Addis has served since the mid 90s.
