Information Sought in Brutal Beating Death

Oconee County Sheriff’s office is seeking the public’s assistance in an ongoing investigation of what has been called one of the most brutal murder cases in the county.  Sometime between May 11 and May 13 of 2010, 82 year old James “Bunk” Carver was beaten to death inside his home at 755 James Carver Road in Seneca. The body was found in the bathroom of the home, but evidence was found in the kitchen area of the home as well.  Greg Reed, Captain of the Criminal Investigations Division said it was probably one of the most brutal beatings he has seen in his job. Reed says investigators believe the beating was personal, considering the severity of the beating, and the belief among investigators that Carver knew his assailant or assailants.  Investigators also believe robbery could be a possible motive as something appeared to have been taken from underneath one of the beds. The sheriff’s department says there are been persons of interest but not enough evidence for an arrest. If you have any information on the murder of James J. “Bunk” Carver, call crime stoppers at 638-STOP, 1-888-CRIME-SC or text 274636.
