Inmates get active in the fight against litter

Oconee County enlisted the help of Detention Center inmates last month in the never-ending fight against roadside litter. In March, county inmates picked up 3,080 pounds of trash. The trash filled 161 bags. The Environmental Services Unit of the Sheriff’s Office answered 38 calls for service and received 10 T.E.L.L. Kobie reports and conducted 12 Kobie pickups. Six cases were investigated. Six citations and two warnings were issued. Sheriff Crenshaw reminds everyone that the 2nd Great Oconee Cleanup will be Saturday, April 21. Volunteers are needed.
