Intriguing Tales of Crime & Punishment at Oconee Heritage Center

By Chad Dorsett

For years ‘Intriguing Tales of Crime and Punishment’ in the Walhalla area were left untold, until now. On Friday, Oct. 28, join the Oconee Heritage Center (OHC) staff as they walk the streets of Walhalla telling stories of murders, crimes, and legends, explains OHC curator and director Leslie White. “We will be doing ‘Intriguing Tales of Crime and Punishment’. People had asked us for a ghost walk and unfortunately or fortunately, however you want to look at it, we are not that plentiful in ghosts. At any rate, we did find that where we have a shortage of ghosts we do seem to have more than enough stories of interesting crimes and punishments that have occurred here throughout history that center there especially around Walhalla and the courthouse. So there are a lot there in that area and we just are going to do a walking tour and talk about some of those neat stories that are true and have a good spooky time.” The event takes place from 7-8:30pm starting at the Oconee Heritage Center, which is located at 123 Brown’s Square Drive in downtown Walhalla. The cost is $5 per person and make sure to wear your walking shoes and get ready for an evening that may tingle your spine. Space is limited, so reserve your spot by calling 864-638-2224.
