Lack of bathroom threatens Old St John’s work

Maxie Duke is worried whether the project will succeed to restore a former church as an historic treasure and future development for Walhalla. Duke is expressing disappointment today that a resolution left with a city committee was not forwarded for action at last night’s meeting of the full council. She seeks an agreement to do what’s needed to complete the Old St. John’s Meeting House restoration and rehabilitation and specifically mentions the need for bathroom facilities there. According to one city official, the solution could rest with an applied-for grant by the city to build restroom facilities for the walkers and other users of the Depot grounds, provided that grant is approved. For further comment, 96.3/WGOG NEWS left a call back request with Councilman Tjay Bagwell, general government chairman.  We have now been in touch with Bagwell .  The councilman said he is hopeful that a grant for which Walhalla has applied will be sufficient to build bathroom facilities on the Depot grounds that will be suitable for both Old St. John’s Meeting House and all other who use the grounds walking and other recreation.
