Library worker wins Governor’s award

For the second year in a row, the Oconee public library sent one of its volunteers to Columbia to collect the award for the Governor’s Direct Service Volunteer of the Year. This year’s award went to Jean Snellings, who volunteers for the bookmobile service. Snellings contributed 264 hours in 2013. The award recognizes a volunteer who has demonstrated dedication, commitment, and determination to promote and support volunteerism and improve the quality of life for South Carolina. If you’d like to lend your talents and volunteer, call Janice Lovingood at 638-4137 or pick up an application at the branch of your local library.
