Little rest for Blue Ridge workers

Electric power service has been restored across the service area of the Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative, but there have been only a few hours of rest before its crews and contractors took up the assault against the wintry weather in other parts of South Carolina. Nearly 80 Blue Ridge workers have been sent to help electric co-ops in lower South Carolina hit hard by the bad weather. Blue Ridge has sent 27 of its own linemen and support personnel and others to Moncks Corner, Walterboro, and Bamberg. Rounding out the group were one dozen linemen from McKee, Kentucky who had first helped Blue Ridge with its own storm-repairs. According to reports from around South Carolina, electric utilities from the Midlands to the coast suffered extensive devastation from the storm’s wrath.
