Local Baseballers Earn Spot on Series Team

Congratulations are in order for Seneca High School’s Alex Medlin and Walhalla High School’s Seth Holcombe. The two were named Monday night to the South Carolina District I team for the Big League World Series in Easley. Medlin is the son of WGOG’s Tony Medlin, heard each Wednesday morning with his weekly sports commentary. The Series begins in late July at the J.B. “Red” Owens Recreational Complex. District I is coached by Gregg Powell. Not only does the Series feature teams from America, but those from Mexico, Latin America, Canada, Asia, and Europe will take part. District I will begin play July 28th at 7:30 PM, taking on the West team. The August 4th championship game will be televised by ESPN.
