Long Creek Woman Facing Drug Charges

A Long Creek woman faces drug charges following an early Thursday morning arrest. Sheriff’s department spokesman Jimmy Watt says deputies responded to a call late Wednesday to reports of suspicious vehicle in the are of Damascus Church Road in Long Creek. Watt says deputies found a subject outside of the vehicle and two people in the car. Watt says officers asked to search the subject’s purse and while searching the purse, deputies found three syringes. Another deputy responded and a consensual search was conducted of the vehicle. Officers found a clear plastic bag under the front passenger seat that appeared to contain methamphetamine along with a black container containing several empty small bags. Watt says the subject was transported to the Oconee Detention center and upon a search of the subject by a detention center officer, 15 pills were discovered in a small clear bag hidden in the lower extremities of the subject.  Valerie Elizabeth Poole, 27, of 999 Academy Road in Long Creek was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center.  She has been charged with possession of less than one gram of meth and possession a quantity of Alprazolam (Xanax). She was also charged with a violation of the county’s drug paraphernalia ordinance on a uniform traffic ticket.
