Long-range plan in the works for Clemson’s College Avenue

Clemson city government believes College Avenue downtown is in need of a long-range plan.  The city has announced it’s working with a design firm for the College Avenue corridor from 123 to 93.  The plan is to address pedestrian safety, whether on-street parking should be prohibited, whether a parking deck should be added, and whether cut-thru traffic should be restricted, among other issues.  Clemson residents are invited to become familiar with the study and share related thoughts and ideas.  First opportunity to do that will be 3 to 7 pm Tuesday, September 19 at the “CAT” Office.  At the same location, Thursday, September 28 there will be a “Design Charrette” in the form of an informal drop-in 8:30 am to 6 pm. Designers will take ideas developed during the September 19 public input session and from other sources and give them form.  The result:  several schematic drawings of the corridor and some renderings of what changes to College Avenue might look like.
