Louisville game to bring more flights to Oconee

Clemson home games with Troy University last week and South Carolina State tomorrow mean light air traffic days for the Oconee Regional Airport.  But Jeff Garrison, the airport director, anticipates the October 1 IPTAY weekend with ACC opponent Louisville will mean plenty of flights in and out of the general aviation facility within three miles of the football stadium.  And those flights mean the airport’s cash registers ring with sales of aviation fuels.  At last night’s aeronautics commission meeting, commissioner David Bryant asked Garrison if, on game days, Oconee could qualify for a temporary control tower.  But Garrison said “They (temporary control towers) are expensive.”
