Man arrested faces seven charges

A 23-year old Oconee County man, facing seven charges, remains locked up this morning in the county Detention Center on a combined surety bond of approximately 37 and a half thousand dollars. The charges against Chad Allen Phillips of Keowee Lakeshore Drive, Seneca arose from a traffic stop conducted Saturday night in northern Oconee County, in the vicinity of highway 107 and the Wigington Overlook. At first, a deputy had gone to the area in search of a reported accident. He said he then saw a Toyota 4 Runner on 107 with no lights on. Authorities identify the charges against Phillips as resisting arrest, failure to stop for a blue light, assault and battery third degree, threatening the life of a public official, and malicious damage to property. Phillips was also issued tickets for littering and driving under the influence.
