Mayor talks up bus service

Nary a soul from general West Union citizenry took advantage of a meeting to discuss bus passenger service, but the mayor says that doesn’t mean there isn’t a need. Mayor Linda Oliver expressed confidence today a need can be justified, especially by the numbers of young people requiring transportation these days and what she believes will be increasing gas prices at the pumps. A public meeting last night at Town Hall allowed a study writer to receive feedback from those who attended, West Union town leaders and a few Walhalla residents who also attended. A study to consider the current need for Clemson Area Transit to expand service beyond the Seneca area is to be updated this fall, before presentation to the Oconee County Council.
