McCall foresees power shift

Wayne McCall foresees in the election of two new Oconee County Council members a change in power. And the District Two councilman is pleased, as evidenced during this afternoon’s interview with 96.3/WGOG NEWS. In his time on council, McCall frequently has embraced and reveled in the role of a maverick. That could change, starting in January once Edda Cammick joins Paul Cain as the council’s newest members. “I’m not saying we agree on everything,” McCall said. However, McCall said he, Cain and Cammick are of one mind on helping poor people, especially those in danger of losing their homes. Councilman McCall also said no one would have to twist his arm in becoming chairman of the council—an office that is filled by council members every January during their organization meeting for a new year.  District Four’s Joel Thrift now serves as chairman.
