Meet “Elbow Grease’s” Shirley and Zboyovski

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA  Two young men with indispensable behind the scene parts in a new movie to be shot in Seneca and other parts of Oconee County paid a visit today to 96.3/WGOG and shared their enthusiasm for a southern comedy to be filmed locally for much of October. The movie “Elbow Grease”, to be headlined by Burt Reynolds, is exactly the kind of film both Jason Shirley and Matt Zboyovski have been gearing toward in their early careers. As to how they could land Reynolds, an actor of fame from Deliverance and the Smokey and the Bandit movies, director and writer Shirley said he immediately thought of Reynolds for the grandfather’s role for the humor and zaniness surrounding the Barnes family in the fictional town of Guppie. Seneca is to be used the backdrop for that town, according to co-producer Zboyovski. Barnes admits luck played a part in landing Reynolds, but said Reynolds’ agent said the actor liked the script. “Elbow Grease” is in need of bit actors. Information on how to apply can be heard this afternoon and tomorrow morning on 96.3/WGOG NEWS.
