Momentum builds for skateboard park

Jason Dean is 43 years old, but he still loves skateboarding.  Dean told the Westminster City Council that skateboarding is an enjoyable recreation activity not only for him, but for younger members of his family.  And he urged the mayor and council last night to push forward with an effort to establish a city-operated skateboard park to be finaanced in part by citizens’ contributions that are held in an account that Rolann Lee created several years ago.  Mayor Brian Ramey last night promoted the idea of building the park on the swimming pool property off Lucky Street, and City Administrator Chris Carter announced the city will apply to the county’s state “C” fund committee next month for funds to pave an entrance road and curbing.
