More on the Chrissy Adams’ announcement

Chrissy Adams, Seneca resident and Solicitor in Oconee and Anderson who has been waging a battle against cancer, is announcing she will not seek re-election for a new term.  In part her statement today reads, “While it certainly had been my interest to seek another term, after a great deal of prayer and reflection, as well as discussions with my medical team and family, I have come to this difficult but appropriate decision.  As many in the community are aware, over the last several years, I’ve fought a personal battle with cancer and most recently have been setback by an infection related to treatment.  While I am pleased to report that I am improving, the combination of an ongoing recovery, returning to my duties and responsibilities as Solicitor and running another successful political campaign all at once, simply did not make sense.”  Adams said she was making known her plans now, in advance of next month’s political qualifying period, to give others who may wish to run the opportunity, free of any questions about where she stands.  One other person, former Oconee Public Defender Wilson Burr, says he will run, and we’ve been told others were awaiting Adams’ position before they make their decisions.  Adams’ plan is to remain in office through the end of her term—December 31.
