Mountain Lakes Classic returns to Cross Creek

April always sees its fair share of golfing at Seneca’s Cross Creek Plantation—-but especially this week. For a second year, the Mountain Lakes Classic returns to Cross Creek, a field of 160 young golfers on the National Golf Association circuit. Mark Ernst says you can never tell. One of this week s budding pros could some day become a future major champion. Ernest is the director of golf and general manager at Cross Creek. For local enthusiasts, it’s a great chance to watch some good golf—all at no charge. First round play begins at 7:30 in the morning. Each day you can track the results at www.ngatour.com. Once again, Mountain Lakes CVB presents the tourney. Ken Sloan, CVB director, says it’s a great boost to the local economy and helps grow the area tourism. Yesterday’s pro-am shootout winner was Jim Charbonneau, Al Shadwick placing second. This afternoon 30-team are entered in the pro-am.
