Museum opening

The grand opening of Phase 1 Exhibits of the Bart Garrison Agricultural Museum of South Carolina near Pendleton begins at 4:45 this afternoon. And Vicki Fletcher says activities have been planned for kids of all ages. In 1979, Fletcher’s predecessor as executive director of the Pendleton District Commission, Hurley Badders, worked with State Senator T-Ed Garrison to secure funds for a 6,000 square foot building to house the museum. Garrison died last week, and the museum has been re-named for Garrison’s son Bart, who was killed in a farm accident in 1990. Last year State Representative Brian White introduced a bill to change the name and extend the geographical scope of the museum to cover the entire state.
