New Pickens County Location for Manufacturer

Pickens County received some positive economic news this morning.  The Golf Ball company TaylorMade has announced plans to build a new manufacturing plant in Pickens County.  The company will invest $13 million in the new facility. Company officials say they will shut down the Westminster operation and move operations to the new facility in Pickens.  The Executive Vice President of the company says the choice of Pickens as the location was an opportunity too good to pass up.  He also stated the closeness to the Westminster operation was another factor.  He said the company hopes to bring as many people from the Westminster plant as possible. The new facility will employ about 125 people..  The new facility will be located in the Pickens County Commerce Park.  Construction is expected to begin next month and plant officials plan to have the facility operating by February 2014.
