NEXT makes final commitment for charter school

Word arrived at Salem from Greenville that the NEXT School made a final commitment last night to open a charter school in Salem’s former middle and high school.  Kim Alexander, clerk-treasurer for Salem, alerted the town council that the decision would be made last night during a meeting of the NEXT School board of directors.  Earlier this month NEXT CEO Zack Eikenberry said the charter school in Salem targeted an enrollment of 215 students and he estimated the NEXT School at Eagle Ridge had surpassed the halfway mark of that total.
