NEXT students may try out for public school sports

A new kind of school plans to do business as early as the next school year in Salem.  So, the question arises will students at the NEXT School be allowed to avail themselves to the sports competition offered by the Oconee public schools?  The answer is they may, according to Steve Hanvey, assistant superintendent for operations of the Oconee public schools.  Hanvey called attention yesterday to a law that allows home school students and those in charter schools, such as the one planned for Salem, to try out for the teams.  But there are some other considerations, and Hanvey explains them today over the airwaves of 101.7/WGOG NEWS.
