NHL cancels first two weeks of regular season

The National Hockey League has so far cancelled 82 regular season games.

The NHL canceled the first two weeks of the regular season Thursday, from October 11th to 24th, because of the ongoing player lockout. The players’ union blamed the league, saying they should lift the lockout and let the games go on while negotiations continue. The two sides are battling over how to split $3 billion in hockey-related revenues. The NHL says the union hasn’t done nearly enough to try to get closer to the league’s proposal.
