No bond reduction for sex crime defendant

An Oconee jail inmate was returned to lock up yesterday after being unable to persuade the judge to lower his bond so that he might gain freedom while awaiting trial. According to prosecutor Lindsey Simmons, Oscoar Octavious Davis faces multiple charges of criminal sexual conduct with a minor, identified as a 12-year old girl. Davis remains jailed under a bond of $120 thousand dollars. Defense attorney Danny Day appealed to Judge Cordell Maddox for a lower bond under the conditions that he wear an ankle monitor and be placed on house arrest. Maddox said no, but invited the defense to re-apply for a lower bond in 90 days.
