No deal yet to deed former Fair Play school to fire department

At least one more meeting will be required of the board of the Fair-Oak Youth Center before the Fair Play Community Volunteer Fire Department will receive property for which to expand its station. According to officers of the youth center, some board members missed last night’s meeting. Tony Adams, the president, said there’s concern about asbestos that will have to be dealt with before buildings on the former school property can be taken down. “Transfer of the land (6.2 acres) to the fire department is dependent on getting something done to the buildings,” Adams told 101.7/WGOG NEWS. Adams is optimistic that there will be assistance from Oconee County government. The next Fair-Oak Youth Center board meeting will be March 15.
