No to triple tax, says KFC

What Keowee Fire Department leaders see as “triple taxation” is likely to continue, in spite of pleas to county and state officials. In a summary of the government year ended June 30, the Keowee Fire Commission said, “The property owners of the District continue to pay into the General Fund of the County for fire services plus a fire assessment of 2.9 mills for rural County Fire support as well as up to 14.5 milles to maintain the Keowee Special Fire District. The Keowee Fire Commission continues to protest this triple taxation to County and State representatives with no success.” And what do the county and state leaders say about that specifically. The question was put to Don Chamberlain, commission chairman, and his response can be heard today on 96.3/WGOG NEWS.
