OC fire fighter awarded at state meet

An Oconee volunteer fire fighter, T-J Harlos, last weekend received the 2013 Scotty Taylor Achievement Award during the Southeastern Fire and Life Safety Education Conference at Myrtle Beach. Harlos is a member of the Picket Post-Camp Oak department where he serves as the volunteer coordinator for the safety and fire education team. Oconee Fire Chief Charlie King calls Harlos instrumental in helping organize residential sprinkler demonstration and smoke detector installation programs. The safety and fire education team has as its goal a working smoke detector in every Oconee County home.
