Oconee emergency workers deployed to hurricane areas

Oconee County emergency responders have been deployed to hurricane-ravaged areas of South Carolina.  They are meeting with success.  The county’s Special Rescue team’s four-person boat, by last evening, was able to help move 59 people out of flood waters in the Marion County town of Mullins.  Assigned to that boat were David Owens, Tommy Christopher, Casey Wood and Eric Kelley. Oconee Fire Capt. Shon Hamilton went to work with a civilian rescue crew on a National Guard Blackhawk helicopter, based at McEntire Air Base in Sumter.  Oconee’s Scott Krein supported the Beaufort County Emergency Operations Center in its recovery efforts.
