Oconee farm designated Century Farm

The South Carolina Century Farms Program announced the designation of the Rimrodt Farm in Oconee County as a Century Farm. The farm was purchased by the family in 1856 and been continuously owned by the family since then. Today’s owners are Jane Harris of Seneca and Louis Rimrodt of Arlington, Virginia. The Century Farms Program was created to honor families who have owned and farmed the same land for at least 100 years. The program was created in 1974 for Oconee, Anderson and Pickens counties. But two years later the state legislature expanded it statewide. More than 350 properties have been designated Century Farms.
